Our choir consists of parishioners who offer their time, talent and service to our parish community. The choir enhances the Christmas Mass during the Night, Holy Week Liturgies, Holy Days of Obligation, and other sacred events, such as the Sacrament of Confirmation. We always welcome new singers. If you love to sing and would be interested in joining, watch the bulletin for the schedule of rehearsals. No need to have the most gifted voice; a choir is always greater than the sum of its parts. The music at all times is prayer, not a mere performance. Musical expertise and performance experience therefore are not requirements, just a willingness to learn and attend rehearsals. Choir members always have a great, reserved seat for Christmas and Easter!

Men and women may share their musical talent by singing the Lord’s praises and leading God’s people in song by serving as cantors. It is a special privilege to which we are invited to serve because of an ability to sing and lead song. As music ministers, we have the opportunity to use our God-given gift, not only to literally ‘sing’ God’s word in the psalms and other biblical-based hymns, but to also help God touch the deepest chords of the human heart by helping His People sing the psalms, hymns, and canticles of joy, sorrow, thanksgiving and petition, praise, and anguish. In this role, we share in the long tradition of our Church of “praying twice” – as Saint Augustine described prayer in song. If you have musical talent and are interested, please inquire with the Director of Sacred Music.

Children’s Choir

The Children’s Choir is open to all kids in grades K-8. We rehearse weekly from 10:30-11 am on Sunday mornings from October to May in the church. We lead song at one Mass one weekend per month and at special events. Children learn the importance and role of a music liturgist by participating in catechetical discussions about the song lyrics, setting a good example in behavior and dress, and rehearsing and learning music theory. Additionally, children in grades 5 and up are invited to audition as a song leader. Those selected participate in singing from the cantor stand when requested. If you’re a kid who loves to sing, then this ministry is for you!

Guitar Group

We would like to expand this ministry. The Guitar Group leads the congregation in song at a few Masses during the year. The group also takes part in the Christmas Eve and Triduum celebrations. If you feel you can bring your musical talents and participate in this ministry, please contact the Parish Office.
